Dream a Little Dream

Made for experiment with stenciling

Finished in December, 2019

10.75” width x 11.50” length

Our art quilting group was experimenting with stenciling and stamping in 2014. Since I love nature, most of my stencils and stamps are of nature. I stenciled some ivy leaves, flowers and a blackbird on this background. I finally free-motioned the piece in 2019.

I made two stenciled fabrics at the workshop. I had decided to throw some blocks together ahead of time. I used some blue fabric I had painted, thinking I'd make it sort of a sky background. I used the same fabric for both, so that they could hang together.

As in a lot of my quilts, I practiced free-motion possibilities on paper first. Some I use, some I don't. Once you get free-motioning, the quilt takes over and you don't always do what you doodle.
